Meguiar’s was proud to sponsor – for the eighth year in a row – London, Ontario’s premium car show, The Fleetwood Country Cruize-In, on June 4-5, 2016.

Over the course of two days, this event drew a massive 7,000 visitors from across the country, and featured many of Ontario’s finest show cars. The energy was high, the cars were impressive, and the line-ups were huge!

This year we featured our Meguiar’s® Ultimate™ product line including Meguiar’s® DAPower System™, our dual action tool, and three-stage polishing system. The feedback we got was overwhelming. People loved our products!

Here’s a wrap-up of the weekend…

What is the Fleetwood Country Cruize-In?

As Canada’s largest outdoor car show, the Fleetwood Country Cruize-In is an annual event in London, Ontario designed for car enthusiasts, young and old. Passionate automotive-lovers travel near and far to the event to see a wide variety of classic cars, including:

●  Custom-built Hotrods;
●  One-of-a-kind show-cars;
●  American muscle cars from the 60’s and 70’s; and
●  …many, many more.

Even though the gates didn’t open until 7am this year, the popularity of the event had show-cars lining up at 5:30am to get a prime spot on the 105-acre estate.

As usual, we were blown away by the cars we saw! The quality and calibre were incredible, making it hard to choose our favourite. However, we did zero in on two particularly special cars to test our products on: a 1936 Ford Copperhead and a 1949 Chevrolet truck.

1936 Ford Copperhead

Mike Livea’s 1936 Ford Copperhead was a stunning vehicle to begin with but after we got our hands on it, it truly shone!

Our team prepared and detailed his car from head to toe. To clean, polish, and protect the vehicle, we used Meguiar’s® DAPower System™ and our three step approach:

●  Meguiar’s® Ultimate™ Compound;
●  Meguiar’s® Ultimate™ Polish; and
●  Meguiar’s® Ultimate™ Liquid Wax.

After the vehicle was detailed, the shine on the Copperhead drew major attention to the booth. Keep your eye on this one – it will be competing in this year’s Vintage Auto Insurance Championship Series!

1949 Chevrolet Truck

Custom-built over a 5-year period by Chi-Chi’s Choppers and Rods, we got to make this beautiful 1949 Chevrolet truck sparkle.

To bring out its shine, Claude Sevigny, Meguiar’s most highly trained and experienced Detailing Specialist, treated the truck with Meguiar’s® MT300 dual action polisher. The polishing stages had a noticeable effect, including:

●  Removing minor surface swirls and imperfections;
●  Providing a deep and polished look; and
●  Bringing out the depth and clarity of the custom paint.

It made our day when the builder of the Chevrolet truck stood proudly beside his vehicle to answer questions from impressed visitors.

Learning through action

This event was a great opportunity to educate our visitors on car care and the advantages of our products.

A common concern we heard was the misconception that old polishing methods burn through a vehicle’s paint. This is simply not true, and we were able to show concerned car lovers why. Through multiple demonstrations with the Meguiar’s® DAPower System™ and MT300 dual-action polishers, our team showcased its safe and effective dual-action technology. By correcting and restoring severely damaged paint surfaces, Meguiar’s products are more than safe – they’re restorative.

All in all, it was a great weekend! We had a blast talking to people, demoing our products, and meeting car lovers who rave about the Meguiar’s brand. Participating in the Fleetwood Country Cruize-In is a great opportunity for us to connect with car lovers across Canada and demonstrate our latest and greatest Meguiar’s products.

The Meguiar’s team is looking forward to supporting and participating in the 2017 Fleetwood Country Cruize-In!
